SHANNON SLEE
I am a contemporary artist living and working on Wurrundjeri Woi-wurrung land in Melbourne’s north.
Informed by feminist theories, my work relies on discarded clothing, presented as a marker that is embedded with the body’s experience. I lean on textile habits of unpicking, piecing, reusing, salvaging, stitching and weaving to create new textile sites. With a focus on the tactile and the domestic, my practice deliberates on a re-working of history that selects affect, emotion and feeling.
